Alison Walker.
Alison is a Yuin/Djiringjan woman who grew up in Wallaga Lake Koori Village on the NSW south coast. Her totem is Umbarra, Black Duck. She takes strength in her culture, passed down by Elders through many generations.
Her artistic practice always has cultural significance and includes painting, shell work and dance. Alison attends festivals and events across Australia as a member of the Djaadjawan Dancers, a female traditional Aboriginal dance troupe.
In 2016 she founded her own female dance troupe at Wallage Lake, the Djiringani Dancers.Alison has worked as a tour guide for Umbarra Cultural Centre and also held a position on the Board of Merrimans Local Aboriginal Land Council for some years.
She is a custodial traditional owner of Gulaga and Biamanga Mountains.
